If I buy a full price Contract free iPhone 6 from Verizon, can I ask them to unlock the phone from Verizon immediately (per the FCC ruling on unlocking at the end of the contract period)?

The iPhone 6 is already unlocked from my understanding. I put a friends TMobile sim in mine just to see if it would work and it does. Didn't leave it in long so I can't say if all of the features work appropriately but voice calls do. I paid full retail for mine but I'm not sure if that really matters based on what I've read from others and the VZW unlocking policy someone posted awhile back.

Hi Mike11971,
We are excited for your interest in the iPhone 6! We do not unlock devices for use on another carrier. We would love to have you join in the VZW family with the iPhone 6 http://vz.to/1e948q1 . Let us know if we can help.
Thanks,
PamelaF_VZW

Thank you Pamela. Does this mean that Verizon is no longer part of the 12/12/13 Carrier Unlocking Voluntary Agreement (http://www.ctia.org/docs/default-source/fcc-filings/ctia-letter-on-unlocking.pdf)?

Verizon Wireless doesn't need to unlock the iPhone 6 as it comes SIM unlocked from the factory.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Thanks. As far as I know, the iPhone sold by Verizon is not locked on GSM, but is locked for the frequencies Verizon uses. Verizon has confirmed this

Does that mean that I will be able to use the phone on any other US carrier
without getting the phone unlocked?
