iOS is 9.1. When I receive a voicemail, a red dot shows on the phone icon. When I tap the icon, the red dot is on "voicemail". A message at the top of the screen says that visual voicemail is not available, call voicemail. The only way I can retrieve my voicemail is by calling in. I do not have any voicemail setup options in the settings. I do not want visual voicemail. I have reset the network settings many times. I then receive old voicemail and messages. Moments ago I reset the network settings and received the "visual voicemail is not available" message again. How can I fix this?

Slipknott, we want all features of your device to work in tip top shape as receiving important voicemails is something that should work flawlessly. Has the voicemail ever worked on this device? Is Wi-Fi on or off? What signal do you have when on our network?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the voicemail - and messaging- have worked on
this device. When I try to retrieve voicemail, there is a message at the
top of the screen: "Visual Voicemail is currently unavailable. Call
Voicemail". I don't have nor do I want visual voicemail.
Text messages are sometimes delayed for a few days - I receive them when
I reset the network settings.
Yes, WiFi is usually "on".
I don't understand your question: "What signal do you have when on our
network". Please explain.
When I submitted my post on the forum, I was shocked to see that it had my
name on it instead of my screen name!! That should not have been posted.
Please delete the post.
I look forward to your reply.

Slipknott,
Thank you for the information. We want you to have top notch service always. I rely on my service too. Let's get this fixed. Your iPhone offers the free service of visual voicemail that's why you are receiving this message. Have you erased some messages from your inbox? Are you picking up LTE? How many bars of signal?

Hello,
I have deleted messages from the inbox, but they remain in the "Deleted"
list. Should I clear those?
LTE shows up occasionally. I keep "cellular" disabled most of the time.
The number of bars of signal depends upon where I am. It can vary from one
end of the house to another or in different parts of my office. Right now
I have two - two circles. Reception in this room is usually pretty good.

Slipknott,
Thank you for the details. I know it’s crucial to have a fully functioning voicemail. I depend on voicemail to work too. Let’s dig deeper into this. Have you tried ot power cycle your device off and back on? Does this only happen at your residence? What about outside of your home? Any issues with making/receiving calls?

Juan,
The phone powers off then on again when I reset the network preferences. I
don't recall if I've ever just turned it off, then on again. Of course, I
wouldn't know that I've missed a text message or voicemail message unless
someone told me they sent one. Some texts and voicemail do come through,
but the voicemail cannot be accessed without calling Verizon and entering
my password.
Yes, as I said, these problems occur when I am at my office, too. They
seem to occur regardless of where I am.
I do not have issues making or receiving calls.
You mentioned that I have free visual voicemail. There is no obvious place
on the phone to set this up.
