Recently the screen on my iPhone 6 has started to separate from the rest of the phone. This was annoying, but tolerable. However, in the last 2-3 days, my phone has started to get hot and then it just shuts down (usually with about 30-40% battery power left). I have tried to turn it back on and you get the plug in to power icon on the screen. After a few minutes of being off, I can power it on and works again with the power level the same as it was when it shutdown. What is the next step to getting this problem fixed?

Is the phone still under warranty? Do you have an Apple Store near you? If you do, I would take it there first and see what they say.

My iPhone 6 has been shutting down at 80% battery. Apple has acknowledge and issue on the iPhone 6s with the battery but not on the iPhone 6 itself.
Your choices are really: upgrade your device, pay to have it serviced i.e. to have the battery replaced by Apple or a 3rd party shop or continue using it with the issues.
Here is the issue for the iPhone 6s per what I mentioned above: iPhone 6s Program for Unexpected Shutdown Issues - Apple Support
