lock screen password stopped working.

My  lock screen password stopped working and I did not reset it.  I tried to do a hard shut down and now I have a blank screen and I am not able to reboot.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Yikes. That is a strange situation that is unfamiliar to me. Let us get you access back to the phone. What happened when you entered the password? What happened when you pressed the power & home button simultaneously?
