I am a consumer too and I sincerely understand your desire for a more detailed answer to your messaging concerns, Jrb2001. The explanation for any messages noted with 999-999-9999 or similar numbers is that when our network is unable to capture the number associated with the incoming or outgoing message our system will use a generic number. I apologize for any inconvenience this information may cause you if does not meet your expectations.

I have messages (pic/movie) sent from my number to a 999-999-9999 number that I did not send on my bill.

I received a phone call with this number. And from what I have researched, is that Verizon’s system could not identify the incoming number and attached a generic number to it. I don’t believe there is anyway to find out that number.
