My phone won't ring and I don't have sound when I get a message.

Is the "do not disturb" on?

Do you have the ringer set to mute? Check the side of your phone and there should be a little slider. If the slider is orange, that means your phone is muted and all communications are vibration or no notification. If it's black, that means the ringer is on, so maybe your volume is off? Click the side volume button up. Last check would be to go into your settings app and checking the ringtone sound volume level from there.

Making sure you get each of your alerts is essential, DIXMOR59. I appreciate you bringing this trouble to our attention. Both Ann154 and Sean.K.Ching are on a great path for the first place to check, as the Do Not Disturb settings, as well as the Silent Mode Switch, are very common causes for the trouble you described. If you're still not receiving notifications, are you able to hear the person on the other end of a call when you place your phone on speakerphone? Have you tried restarting your phone?
