my voice sounds scratchy, cuts in and out iPhone 7 plus

when making a call, many listeners tell me my voice cuts in and out and they can't hear me.  This is a persistent problem.  Case is not an issue.  and all my software is up to date.  Seems like a hardware  problem to me.  What can I do?
