Text received but showing someone elses number?

Is this possible?  My son is getting grief from his EX accusing him of sending texts at all hours of the day and night to her and her new boyfriend.  He claims he is not doing this and has offered to show his phone history and text message history on his account online.

Any ideas what may be happening?

Re: Text received but showing someone elses number?

someone who knows both parties is spoofing your sons number.

SVDBYGRACE77, we regret to learn your son is being accused of sending messages he hasn't sent. Unfortunately, the matter is something that can be easily done using 3rd party applications especially when someone knows your son's number as well as those of the other parties. The behavior itself is known as spoofing. You can find some additional details about it here: The good news is your My Verizon Account Owner/Account Manager profile shows a detailed history of messages sent with to/from and date/time information for the last 90 days. You can also save that data to a spreadsheet if needing it past that time frame. You'll find the steps on how to view that detail here:
