Why is the Iphone 12 Pro Max not supported on Prepaid Plans?

When I put in the IMEI of my phone on bring your own device it keeps saying the phone is not supported. Weird thing is if you go to the phones they sell for PrePaid the 12 pro max was one of the phones that they use to sell. Why is not supported now?
