Verizon store didn't tell me I was eligible for (prorated) $160 upgrade promotion

I upgraded my iPhone 6 to an iPhone SE on Tuesday at a Verizon company-owned store. I was not told that I was eligible for a $160 upgrade promotion (prorated monthly over 24 months). When I called Verizon Customer Service, I was told I could return my new phone within the 14 day period, incur a $50 restocking fee, and purchase a similar phone (and, I assume pay an additional $40 activation fee). I am furious that I was unable to take advantage of this promotion.

The upgrade was available for my phone, but, apparently, targeted promotions may not be known by store personnel.  A response from "Executive Customer Service" resolved the issue to my satisfaction.

You could always sell the 6 on eBay. From how your post reads, it sounds like this promo was for a completely different phone. It's not a rep's job to tell you which phone to buy. You wanted an SE and got an SE.

Esetter, we know that getting a good deal on a new phone is something that we are all looking for. Often, when there is a special offer available on an account, that offer will appear under your Notifications on My Verizon. Have you been able to complete a trade in for the iPhone 6? With a trade in good working and physical condition, you would also qualify for a savings at https://www.verizon.com/od/trade-in/#/. Should you wish to return your current device, you do have 14 days to do so. The Upgrade Fee would be returned however, you would have the Restocking Fee. Also, should you place an order online, the Upgrade Fee is actually reduced to $20.00. As I like to save where I can, that can really help.
