Not getting short code verification texts on Xr

I just switched over from AT&T to Verizon today - and I am trying to set up my cards via Apple Pay - however, the text verification codes aren’t coming through.  I do know that at times it can take 5-7 days for the number to fully switch, but I was wondering if there is another issue - or if I should just give it some time?  All other texts are coming through just fine and the phone is working brilliantly otherwise.  I appreciate your help!

Normally we ask to allow up to 48 hours, depending on where the port is coming from, to get your old number working on your new phone. Have you received the welcome to Verizon text message from us?
