iPhone XR and XS Max poor call connection

My girlfriend and I both have purchased newer iPhones in the last month. We have started to notice that some of our calls have a poor connections. This has become more frequent and quite disturbing. Is there a problem with Verizon’s signal, or is it a phone issue?  Also, is there a possible firmware update that we need to fix this.  Please help.

Do you experience this with all calls or specific numbers? Does this happen everywhere?
