Nicknames on call/text detail not always showing

I have a question about text detail and nicknames. When I view the past usage on a particular number some of the numbers are assigned nicknames and some of them are not. On one of the numbers that has an assigned nickname I’m seeing that some of the time it shows the nickname and some of the time it just shows the number. Why is that? Also on the past usage it doesn’t give the type of text whether it’s just a text message or a picture or video message. I’m viewing this on both an iPhone and an android tablet in the My Verizon App. I believe it takes me to the web browser to view  the detail. Is there a way I can see on past usage whether it was just a text message or a picture or video message?
