Mobile Account Ownership
Enthusiast - Level 1

Let me tell you about my story. My father passed away in August 2022. A week later, we went to the Verizon store, cancelled his phone line, and tried to change the ownership of the account to me (his son) so I could change certain things with my Verizon account. We were told to take a death certificate to another store with more authority so we could have the ownership of the account transferred. So we did, but the ownership wasn't transferred. So, last week, January 2023, we went back to the Verizon store again with the death certificate to try and have the ownership transferred, again. The man at the store verified the death certificate, and associated it with my account. He said they couldn't do the transfer, that I had to talk with a representative on the phone to get it transferred. So he connected me with the appropriate person, and they said I needed to email the death certificate to them, so I did, and they would send me an email that would allow me to transfer the account ownership. The email came but when I was going through the process, it gave an error message saying that I was trying to transfer the ownership of the account to someone with the same SSN/Tax ID number. So, I called Verizon again, and they said they could do it but needed to do a credit check on me which was approved. Then she told me the only plan that was available was a 75. Unlimited plan and it had to be with autopay, but when they removed my father's phone from our plan (a family plan) in August 2022, they signed me up for The new Verizon Plan Small 2G plan for 55. The Verizon representative said they hadn't had that plan in years, although this was the plan they had signed me up for in August 2022 after my father had passed away. I've tried three times to transfer the ownership of the account since MY FATHER PASSED away to no avail. Can you believe they would cause a loyal customer so much trouble after their father had just passed away. I'm so glad there are other options available; ATT. Thank you very much for your loyalty Verizon.
