I have a question regarding port forwarding using the CR1000B. I believe I know how to do a port forward, but I'm having the oddest behaviors when doing so.
I've been setting up a port forward to allow for an RDC connection thus allowing me to access my home computer from other locations over the internet. Here's what I'm running into however:
Every time the CR1000B router is power cycled, the RDC port forwarding stops working.
Rebuilding the port forward usually requires that I adjust settings in the port forwarding rules, then re-move an re-add the port forward multiple times until the RDC sticks.
The prior Fios router I had, which was the G1100, had slightly similar settings when applying a port forward, but the one difference I notice is that the port options are really limited to just specific ports and there is no "Any" option on the CR1000B whereas the G1100 would allow an Any option to be used.
I know the RDC connection to my computer works because I have the computer connected to the router through an external hub that connects to the CR1000B and my mobile phone is connected to the CR1000B's WiFi and from the mobile phone, I can access the PC all day since they are pulling IPs from the same network. But trying to set up the external RDC via the Port forwarding in the CR1000B feels a lot like being in a Double Dare competition.
Has anyone been able to set up a Port forward for an RDC successfully - meaning even after a reboot of the CR1000B, the port forward doesn't need to be rebuilt?
