I just switced apartment and moved my Verizon internet service with me. At my old place, the technicians were able to connect the router to the wall ethernet port near my desk (instead of connecting it to the ONT), so that I could use wifi for my mobile devices and use wired ethernet connection for my PC at the same time. However, at my new place, the router isn't working when connected to the wall ethernet port and had to be plugged into the ONT directly to provide wifi. There's a considerable distance between the ONT and the ethernet port. Is there any way I can replicate the old setup? My only device is the router. Thanks!
