Droid Maxx 2-2nd for half price not available for early upgrades

When we upgraded our phones 3 months early on 4/10 I came home to find an email on 4/11 saying buy one Droid Maxx 2 get the second one at half price.  There were no disclaimers on it.  I went back to the store and the store manager tried to give it to us but was unable to.  He said it was because we upgraded early.  If we would have waited 3 months we would have received it.  He agreed there weren't any exclusions in the ad.  I notice that now, a week later the special has been removed.  Where I work if it's in print you honor it and then remove it.
