I might have to run out for a few minutes and don't want to miss my delivery. Can't find anything on either UPS or Verizon's website. Is there any way to pre-sign?

UPS is completely discretionary, based on the driver. If you can't be there, I would just print out the Tracking Info, write a note saying you authorize the driver to leave the package (specify where - inside the front door, in the backyard, porch, etc.), sign and date. If you live in a neighborhood where the UPS driver will feel comfortable leaving the package, he or she probably will. This is of course unless they have instructions otherwise for these deliveries, but it's very possible they'll leave it.

Type up a consent saying, "I am authorizing UPS to leave my package at the front door (or wherever you choose), and I understand that it is not UPS's responsibility if the package is stolen." Type up something similar to that and make sure you put the name that's on the package, the address, and tracking number on the form then sign and date it. That's the same thing Apple's pre-sign form has on it. I used my old one from the February iPhone I ordered through Apple for this one I ordered through Verizon. I just photo shopped the tracking number. It is still the driver's discretion whether or not they want to leave it and take that as a signature though.

Yes there is. You have to register on UPS.com and then sign up for MyUPS (both free). Once you are signed in, select track your packages. After you enter your tracking number(s), an option appears to select tracking details. Once you are in tracking details, select the allow sign a shipment release. I "signed" one for both of my tracking numbers. So even though the tracking says "Signature Authorized", immediately below it it now says "Shipment Release Authorized". I hope this helps.

I found if you signed up for UPS My Choice you can get and do the signature release that was listed above. They can do that because you verify your information when you sign up for the UPS My Choice. Hope this helps finally figured this option out this morning for myself, now I know they'll leave it at my door also did a sign up last night and left it there after I did this just incase.
