Iphone 7 charging issue

This is strange
iphone 7 in perfect condition wont charge- cleaned charging port thoroughly- bought new charge cables and tested them on our other iphones and they work fine
The iphone has the 11.3 OS update installed- says battery life is 95%
When you plug the phone it -it appears to be charging but the charge indicator icon is missing
the phone will charge to 12% even with the charge indicator missing- then stop charging
If i lay the phone down- and use the 12% to start recording a video and let it run on the charger a few minutes until the 12% is gone and the phone dies- then leave it on the charger overnight and shut off with charger hooked up- it will charge to 100%- BUT still no charge indicator
any attempts to charge it after that fails until you run the battery completely dead again with it plugged in - then leave it overnight
With the lightning cord plugged into PC- it will not connect to pc or itunes to do a DFU because nothing recognises the device
What ever is causing the charge indicator not to work seems to be the issue
I am REALLY frustrated with this- the device is perfect no damage of any kind ( warranty just ran out but still paying on the phone)
can anyone help?

A phone that is inconsistently charging must be frustrating, derrickhand300. It appears you’ve taken all the suggested steps Apple has to offer when looking at this article

You mention that the manufacturer warranty just ran out. With that being said, I’ve got great news if a Factory Data Reset of the iPhone does not resolve this charging trouble ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201274 ) . Verizon Wireless currently has what we call an insurance open enrollment opportunity. This means that as long as your device is in good condition, then you can enroll in our Total Equipment coverage program. This includes an extended warranty.

Does it charge normally after wiping the device?
