iPhone 7 1x 3g LTE Cycling

Hi. The problem is not with underground coverage. There's a strong LTE signal in each of these stations. The problem is that the phone is getting stuck in 3G or 1x mode and won't connect to LTE until I force it to by toggling Airplane Mode.

Again, the problem continues until I reach the last station and toggle Airplane Mode. Once I have done that at my destination, the phone remains connected to LTE.

This problem makes my phone very difficult to use on the subway. It's not a problem I had when I was an AT&T customer. I will be exploring options to exit my contract if I can't get this problem resolved.

I understand that this issue has been impacting the convenience of using your phone on your commute. We absolutely want you to be able to stay connected as your day goes on. While it's true that we cannot guarantee service indoors, whether underground or not, we definitely want to assist with investigating this further. We don't want to see you leave the Verizon family. I am having the exact same problem, if I am not on wifi i get nothing but 1x data, I have tried resetting factory settings, restarting my phone, taking my sim card out and putting it back in and still the same issue..What is going on that this is happening??

We understand wanting to stay connected. While we are not able to guarantee service indoors, we can still try to figure out what is causing this issue with your phone. How long has this been going on? Do you have an iPhone 7 as well? Are other devices in this location showing the same issues?

Please stop referring to this as “service indoors.” That’s a red herring. Every MTA subway station has a 4-bar LTE signal. The problem is that the phone is not connecting to it.

Did anyone ever get a resolution here? I’m having the same exact issues in Philadelphia years later now...
