Apple 5c camera isn't working.

I can do selfie with camera but to take photo the screen is blank as though it is locked?  Any suggestions how to unlock?

Agent1234, Apple prides itself on the quality camera they provide and we definitely want you free to take selfies whenever you prefer.  So I can ensure we are on the same page, can you walk me through the process?  Do you mean you are able to press to take the picture and then it goes blank or do you mean the picture you take is blank?
