Can I use an iPhone 5c in México with a local carrier?

Hi, I live in Mexico and a friend told me that he will bring me a used cdma verizon Phone from the US (iPhone 5c).

My question is if I will need to do something to use it with a local carrier (Telcel), or I can just insert my SIM and use it?

Or how can I unlock it?

Greetings to you in Mexico.
In order to be able to use a Verizon device, you would need to have service with us. Our devices come unlocked for travel purposes, but you won't be able to use on a different network. We apologize for the confusion.
