Custom ringtone stop working on iphone 5SE?

Suddenly a few days ago my custom ringtone stopped working! Why?

I reset it several times. No joy. I d/l 2 more ringtones from the Apple Store. Set one of those as new ringtone. No joy again.  Set other one. Still no joy. I'm stuck with some crappy generic tinny sounding "notes" as my ringtone. Do not like that!

Did something change? Or?

Please help me if anyone knows how to fix this.  Thank you in advance to anyone who does!

Kathy, I would probably be besides myself as well if I knew that I had purchased and did not receive it. I want to make sure that we get this taken care of for you. Let me please clarify what is occurring with the phone. Is it the ringtone or the ring back tones that are having the problem? You mentioned that you are stuck with a generic 'note'? Is this when people call you and they hear this note?
