Forward microphone not recording

I have an Apple iPhone 8plus.  It has recently stopped recording on the forward facing microphone when using Marco Polo or even recording a video of myself.  I have taken off the screen protector and don’t see any build up.  Any suggestions?

We definitely don't like to hear that you are having trouble with your iPhone. Help has arrived to work on restoring the microphone function on your phone. Do you recall anything happening with your phone right around the time the issue started happening? Have you recently updated the software on the phone?
