Group mms messages received strangely???

My phone number receives group mms messages from a particular group on a consistent basis. Does anyone know why when  I get the messages they don't always come from the same phone number? They show a different phone number received from each time even though I know that they come from only one place/number. Are they routing through other group members phone numbers? I hope these questions make sense to someone, its driving me crazy. Thank You.

Yes, group sms are handled differently than normal sms on the iPhone.

Looks like the server opens a unique number for each group SMS, to act as a chat room host.
