How do I delete contacts from my old phone but keep them on my iPhone 6s?

I'm giving my old iPhone 5s to a friend  every time I delete a contact from 5s it deletes contact from my 6s. How can I fix this problem?

That is because you are still signed in under your account. You need to factory reset the device and have your friend set it up with their own Apple userid.
