How do you delete purchased apps on the iphone 4?

When I delete an app on my phone it is still shows up in my purchased list. How can I delete it off my purchased list?

What a great question, Debbien!
Technically because you purchased the app, it is yours to keep and it can't be deleted from the purchase list (in case you want to install it again in the future).
