How to use less data on iPhone 6+?

New to Apple iPhone 6+ AND I'm looking for ways to use less Data.

1. I view you tube and other database eaters...

Any tips on how to save Data. ??

2.  When I have multiple layers open, but only using 1--2 Am I using up data for each layer/window. ?

[Edits were made to this post] The easiest way to save on data is to use wifi whenever possible. Turn off wifi assist (lots of people have had trouble with it opting to use cellular even when they are in an area wifi).
