I can not take a picture with the camera, but I can facetime. What is wrong with my camera?

My son has an iphone 4s, less than a year. About 2 weeks ago the camera stopped working.  He can facetime but not a take a regular picture.  The phone is also always in "searching", he can't make phone calls.  The software is up to date.  Any help would be appreciative.

I am sorry that your son's phone is giving you such trouble! Let's see what can be done. Have you tried restoring the phone through iTunes?

Go into an Apple Store if under a year old from purchase. They can assist you
