I got a new number, same phone, and cannot authenticate my phone (so I can't make/receive calls/texts). Help?

I changed my number (kept my phone).  It tells me to call #832. When i do that, it says "we're sorry, we can't activate. If you keep having problems, call #8899." When i call that, I get the same message

Call Customer service or Tech support. They can add the authentication for your line. It's nothing with your phone just a minor glitch in the system where the info in the system does not match your device.

Tech support can resove the issue quickly.

I do hope you've been successful using your new number by now, ben71991. If you're still having trouble, please be sure that you've had the opportunity to program the new number into your phone. For the iPhone 5, this can be done by powering the phone down and removing the SIM card for about 30 seconds. When you place the SIM back in and power up, give it about 2 monutes before doing anything for the phone to recognize the new programming and sync up with the system. If it continues, please let us know a bit more, such as your current zip code and if any other Verizon users in your area are having the same recording that you're aware of.
