IMessage Text Plan

Is a monthly text plan subscription required in order to send and receive text using the iPhone iMessage capability ?

No, but if you text someone who does not have iMessage, you will be charged the per text rate from Verizon.

Unless she has the text block on her iPhone itself or the vzw block that won't send if iMessage is unavailable.

Please share -- how do you "text block" on the "iPhone itself?"

Verizon's blocking is still letting text through and, if I want to use iMessage, I am then charged for anything that has come in via non-iMessage texting, even if I don't want it.
