Hello, maybe I over looked this question being asked but I am wondering if you can lock you voicemail? I want to be able to dial my code before listening to them, not going straight to the voicemail.

thanks!!

Once in VM, listen to all the options, there is one from passcode

I tried that. I get an option to change my passcode but not to lock it.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to "lock" the visual voicemail from being heard via the iPhone itself. If you call from another device you will still have to enter the passcode as you seem to want to do. You might be able to restore your iPhone and not set up the visual voicemail...then you would be required to call your voicemail to check it and manually enter the passcode, but you would lose the ability to use visual voicemail. You can try looking at the manual for the iPhone 4s on the apple support site to make sure there isn't a way to do what you want though.

I think if u never set password in iPhone that's the only way for u to not to see ur voicemail on the phone. What if u lock the whole phone untill ur with it if that's the problem if u can lock it with a password. I am just brainstorming don't know if possible.

Yes, they have the option of putting a passcode lock on their iPhone if they are concerned about others picking up their phone and checking the vm.

Hello christin92,

Thanks everyone for the great responses. I just wanted to add additional details. If you didn't set up a voicemail password when you set up your voicemail on the iPhone, you will need to master reset your phone to factory settings to set your voicemail with a password. Make sure to back up important data you have on the phone before you reset your device. This can be done by simply connecting iPhone to iTunes and making a device backup. This will allow you to restore device to original state. To reset your phone, please follow these instructions:

  1. From the home screen, touch Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Reset
  4. Select Erase All Content and Settings

After master reset to set up voicemail password, please follow these instructions:

1. From the home screen, select Phone
2. Tap Voicemail then select "Set Up Now"
3. Enter a voicemail password then select "Save"
4. Re-enter the voicemail password then select "Save"

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Am I wrong that he /she didn't want the voice mail to be on the phone. I just did it and I did a master reset. I don't have the voicemail appear so people can see it if they use my phone. It says on the voice mail tab how to set it up but u can set it up by calling ur phone press # and do voice mail greeting etc. it won't change what ur phone will show or not show.
