My bill is waay over the top than what I was told.

Recently (By recently, I mean a month ago.), my mom, dad, and I got phones. My parents got Lucid by LG and I got an iPhone 4S black originally (it was used so we got it for 140-160 ish?). We paid $500 dollars on the spot on the Verizon stand at the mall. But a week later, my aunt wanted an iPhone and she was planning to get black, so instead we compromised that we'll trade phones and I'll get the white so she'll get my black. She paid for it, not my mom, she did. The iPhone she got was new so it was about $200. All iPhones are 16GB.

But that's just a little background story. Now for the real question is.

My bill is $500 dollars and I don't know what I did to get it to that.

My minutes: 37 out of 700.

Messages: 801 of Unlimited

Data used: 0.082GB of 2.000GB

I very seldom use 3G and the only time I use 3G is when my wifi keeps going on and off.

I rarely use Safari and I have only went to about 5-10 sites.

All my apps are free.

The guy told me our whole family plan was $140 total for all 3 phones. (Family plan.)

It's just $500 for MY phone.

Anyone willing to try to tell me what's wrong?

Every person the first bill is double. Anytime you add something in the middle of the month etc you have to pay from when you start till the new bill then another month. Smartphones are at least another $30 ontop of the mins and text. Are you all share mins if not it might be cheaper. I forgot if you mentioned that. You could save money if you work for a place that gives a corporate discount.

when your aunt got a phone, did she activate it on that line first?

and accpet all terms and conditions?

did you do it with your original phone?

The first bill is kind of scary, because, as gina7239 said, you're paying a partial month and the upcoming month. Go over every detail on your bill. You may have activation fees on there too, if you're new customers.

I have to point out though, I don't see how a rep could quote you $140/month for three smartphones. Sharing 700 minutes with unlimited texting would be $100 alone, plus a $30 data plan for each smartphone. Even with a sizable corporate discount, it wouldn't be applied to the entire plan cost. Am I missing something?

I tried to look up the family plans to see how this could be done, but the only options I can see today are Share Everything and Prepaid.

Edited to add: As a point of reference, I have TWO smartphones sharing 700 minutes, unlimited texting, two old unlimited data plans and a 19% corporate discount, and my monthly bill is $158.

Maybe the 140 is not includeing the smartphones fee. The new plan is 40 each So if you have multiple lines it could get up there.

Jayberri, thank you for your post. There are a number of factors that would cause a high bill and I know it can be very shocking to get a bill this high! In this case it doesn't appear that you have minute, text or data overage. Have you reviewed your bill on My Verizon to see what the total charges are for? If you or the account owner logs in under the main line, you'll be able to see the bill breakdown by line. If you still need assistance, you can send me (MarquiaF_VZW) a private message or call customer service at 800-922-0204.

Thanks, and have a great day!
