My iphone 6 will not pick up wifi away from the router

I have to literally sit in the same room or near my router box in order to get on the internet on my iphone 6.  If I walk away from it, it automatically drops my wifi service.  What can I do? I've already talked to someone at VZW but they could not figure it out.

Carlamarie4 Staying connected to your Wi-Fi is very important to save on data and we understand. Let's work to find a solution.  Please let me know if you have Wi-Fi assist on. Go to settings > cellular > scroll all the way down to check Wi-Fi Assist. If it is on, turn it off.
