My iphone just shut off

I just got an Iphone 4 like a week ago and today it just shut off. I can' even charge it. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Yes! I was told to hold the power button along with the home button at the same time and it will turn back on. I had to hold it for about 15 seconds and then the apple was on the screen,

What causes that to do that? When mine shuts off it takes awhile to turn on and show its charging but that's normal. At our house we have an iPhone 4 + 4s
