No Charge Icon showing ... very slow charge

When I plug in my phone to any charger, usb port, docking station, and I have tried a number of different avenues to assure that it is not a faulty cord etc. no lightening bolt icon appears.  It will charge but VERY slowly. When the phone is docked music will still play so I know the port is still functioning, plus it will charge, just really slow and no charge icon shows.

Any help?  I know I am not alone.  I see quiet a bit of the same descripted issues on various forums.

Have you had the port checked out in the Apple Store?  It may be damaged (for charging) even though the dock is working.
