No sound coming out of my Iphone 3G.

My Iphone 3G makes not sounds at all, ringing or keypad. I have the volume at it's highest and have checked the settings. Nothing has changed and nothing seems to be remiss. Any suggestions for getting back the sound?

Off topic do you have 3G or iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s? There not all the same.

There is a button on the left hand side if it shows red that could be it or you blew a speaker / receiver.
