Numbers mixed up on our 2 iPhone 5's - HELP!!!!!!!

My husband ordered 2 iphone5's (white for me & black for him). Somehow, my phone # (an upgrade line) was assigned to the black phone and his phone # (also an upgrade) was assigned to the white phone.

We are not trying to move the iPhone 5 to a non-upgraded line. We simply want to swap the numbers so that my phone number is on the WHITE iPhone 5 and his number is on the BLACK iPhone 5.

Both phones were activated at 11 am this morning, thinking we would just switch the numbers online. NO SUCH LUCK. So what needs to be done? No one seems to be able to tell me the same thing. We called Support, said to take phones to store and have SIM cards swapped. At the Verizon Sales & Service store, we were told that would lock the SIM cards up. They said to wait 24 hours and do the switch from Verizon website. We called Support again, and this time we were told that since we had not requested them to swap lines and nothing was "pending" that it could now take 24 to 48 hours to get the lines swapped. SERIOUSLY?  I just need a few questions answered before I screw this up any further:

  • Do I need to request the swap through Verizon before the SIM cards are "Aging" or did they begin aging when the phones were initially activated?
  • Should the Phones be turned off during the entire aging process?
  • Once the aging process is complete, do we swap out the cards or switch devices on-line?

I cannot believe Verizon did not have some sort of notice to its customers about this. Perhaps a "special" alert to those activating their new iPhone 5 -  on the web site and on the automated phone system.  OR: How about putting a note in the Shipping Box - letting people know.

You "SHOULD" be able turn off both phones.  Take out the SIM cards out of the phones and leave them out for at least ten minutes.  Swap the SIM cards and put them in the opposite phones from where they were.  Then you can power up one phone.  Wait for that phone to completely power up and get a Verizon signal voice and data.  Once that phone is fully connected, you can power up the second phone.

You might need to do a restore of the phones in itunes to get your info on your white phone and his info on the black phone.

Why do the phones need to go through this "aging" process?  With 4G SIM cards, the account and line info are on the SIM card.  They should be able to put the SIM card associated with the wife's number in the white phone and the husband's SIM card in the black phone.  Both are the same size of SIM card as opposed to any other 4G LTE SIM card from an android phone.

I also had this same problem.  Called CSR and was told to just swap the SIM cards.  Quickly swap SIM cards and then power up both phones and it worked.

If it is like any other LTE phone on Verizon (read the Androids), then your answer is 100% spot on. A simple swap of the nano SIM card (which is where the number for the phone resides) will work.  Classic example.  My son's RAZR MAXX  started doing hot boots.  I have a spare Galaxy S3 on another line.  Went into the local store and got a CPO ordered for his phone.  Went home, took the SIM out of his phone an placed it in my S3 and placed my SIM from the S3 into his malfunctioning MAXX.  Reset the S3 (it was configured for my stuff) and it immediately recognized his number.

Yup.. The way i always seen it the Sim Card is what Carried the Information for the Phone to Work and as Long as the Sim wasn't Damaged in any Way and it could fit in the receiving Device.. you could do the Transfer with minimal issues...

Hi Aldofaldo1,

The message from Ann154 was correct. Due to both phones having the same size SIM Card and the SIM Card being the one carrying the number, a simple swap of cards will swap the color of the phone between the two. I have tested and verified this works. The "Aging" process you spoke of is used for placing a new number to that specific SIM Card.

For example: Your husband has the iPhone 5 with nano SIM and you have an Android with micro SIM. You want your husband to have your Android and you want to have the iPhone 5. You can't just move the SIM cards as they're different size so then you need to change the number on the SIM.

This aging process doesn't apply to you so no need to be concerned. If in the future you need to review the process, just visit
