Personal Hot spot question?

If I run my personal hot spot on my IPAD or my IPHONE5 to connect a laptop in my house will it us up my data??

Yes. Cellular data is used for the hotspot.

You might look into getting broadband or DSL and use WiFi instead.

Cellular data is very expensive.

Thank you so much for your advice. I used it connect my laptop cause it keeps dropping the Wifi connection for some reason.  About every 5 minutes. Everything in our house stays connected fine but that one. It's link it see the router connects to it then the router says I don't know you and don't know your IP. Drop. Connor do anything on and so frustrated cause I don't know what wrong. But it connect to my phone and stays connected no problem. Any ideas ???

On your laptop just assign a dedicated IP address for it on the router. Check your routers owners manual for the steps to do this. Once the device has its own IP address it should stay connected.
