Phantom message

Why does my iphone send out a single message right after I pick up my email, especially when I have not made any messages to send?

Where is it sending a message to? What type of message? Text? Email?

I figured it out. It was an email and somehow got stuck in the outbox and was sent everytime I checked email. I deleted it from the outbox and the problem went away. Thanks for your response.
