Retrieving Deleted Texts

I recently was running out of space on my iPhone and I was clearing up large files, which included text messages over one year old. I elected to complete this option; however, I forgot that I had texts from my mother before she died in 2013 and I'm not sure if I have any way of getting those back.

Any chance to retrieve them? Or are they gone forever?

We absolutely understand how text messages from our loved ones can carry sentimental value, and we want to help in any way we can. Please tell us, do you have any other Apple devices that were storing your messages? Such as a MacBook or Apple Watch? To be sure, was this an iMessage or regular SMS text message?
