Settings for wifi while in Mexico

When I had AT&T, I could use wifi without phone service. I want to use 3G in Mexico, but can't get phone to stop roaming? Any thoughts, can I get WiFi without phone service while travelling internationally? What settings to turn off phone but keep on WiFi?

Cellular data network and data roaming I think.

Re: Settings for wifi while in Mexico

I just got back from Mexico on the 22nd, and yes, you can use WiFi without phone service. In fact, I had Airplane Mode on the entire trip, but I would connect to WiFi hotspots when available. This kept me from incurring data roaming and call/text charges, but it also meant I couldn't call or text. I used the Google Hangouts application to call and text over WiFi.
