My IPhone 6 thinks that headphones are plugged in even when they are not so the sound doesn't work unless it's on speaker or headphones are connected

Let's boost the audio on your iPhone. Have you attempted to hold the power and volume button simulataneosly for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo on your screen? Give that a try and keep us posted.
