This phone is using extrem amounts of data overage?

If you have an iPhone (I assume you do, as you posted here in the Apple space) and it recently received an update to the OS, check to see that WiFi assist is turned OFF.  WiFi Assist is a (not so) "helpful feature that chooses the strongest signal for you automatically, and if cellular happens to be the one, it will shut off your WiFi and use your cellular data.  Turn it OFF to maintain control of your connection.
