Trouble sending/receiving messages

Grandsons have traded in I Phones for Samsung notes. I cannot send or receive messages now even though I have unlimited messaging on my I Phone 4

Let’s get those messages flowing Marlene. Staying in touch with grandkids, family and friends is essential. Samsung phones have an Android operating system, and iPhones have an iOS operating system. This is important because your iPhone is able to send/receive iMessages and Android devices send regular text messages (SMS). Please ensure that you are sending regular text messages to those Android phones. I also recommend installing Verizon Messages on your iPhone to ensure that you are able to connect with Android phones via regular text messages.
