The wife and I upgraded to the iPhone 6 and 6+ when they were released a few months ago. We have will be spending a couple of weeks in Singapore shortly, and I am interested to know what my options would be in terms of us using our phones there (assuming funds are not unlimited, of course).
The last time I traveled to South East Asia was years ago, and at that time I had to first get my Verizon Blackberry Pearl 8900 unlocked via a unlock code from Verizon Customer Service. Will we have to do that again, and will Verizon do that for us, considering we are still within the first 6 months of our new contract?
Also, would it be more cost effective (than signing up for one of Verizon's international roaming+data plans) to purchase a prepaid local SIM card in Singapore to use in our phones whilst there, and would our phones even be supported by the local networks in the first place? Or perhaps renting a mobile wifi device might be better?
Too many questions, so little time!
