Voice Mail on iPhone 5se

I just upgraded from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 5SE and now I have to call voicemail to get messages.  On my old iPhone 5 when I hit the voice mail icon I got a player that I could play the voice mail message immediately.  Now it takes me to a voicemail system that requires my password before listening to my voicemail.  Is there any way to go back to the way voicemail worked on my iPhone 5?
