What should I do when using my iPhone abroad?

I am going on a trip for 3 months and  trying to use my iphone 6 in South Kore(using a Korean cell phone carrier, not Verizon, so I am not roaming it)

What should I do?

Should I country-unlock my iphone? should I cancel my current Verizon plan?

Please help!

Your iPhone is already unlocked, just pop the Korean SIM in the phone.

Put your Verizon account in suspend without billing for 3 months.   This is free.  Any contracts you have will be extended 3 months
