Why can't I receive voice mail?

I've had my iPhone 6 since November and everything was working fine when I set up my voicemail but the past few weeks I've had no voicemails and all my friends who call me say it doesn't even go to voicemail, it just ends the call after so many rings. I tried changing my greeting and changing the password but is there something specific I need to do to get my voicemail to work again?

We want your voicemail up and running for you. Please dial *73 and press send. This will remove any Call Forwarding that may be set up on this device. Keep us posted.
