Why is data usage so high

I have been disappointed with the data usage of my new iPhone6.  Since activation, my usage shot up to 19g in one month.  Is there anything I can change on the default settings to reduce data consumption?

Yes, as a matter of fact. When you go to settings>cellular, you will see as you scroll down a list of apps which you can choose whether or not to allow them to use cellular data. If you choose to switch them off, they will only use wifi data when available.

Also, you may want to go to Settings>facebook and turn off the auto play for videos, or set it to only wifi. Pretty recently, posted facebook vids on your feed will play by themself as you scroll down, and this uses bookoo data.

also....

Open up the Settings app and navigate to General > Background App Refresh. This will open up a window with a list of installed apps with toggle switches next to them.

At the top, you’ll want to tap on the toggle switch next to Background App Refresh to turn the entire feature off if it isn’t already. From there, the toggle switch will go from green to white/gray.
